Privacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026. This page describes how SafeMomma actually works today.
Short version
The free iOS app does not create accounts, does not track you, and keeps saved items only on your phone. The website lets you sign in to save items and uses a small first-party analytics tool so we can see what people search for. We do not sell your information or show ads.
iOS app
- No account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics SDK, no tracking.
- Saved items and recent searches stay on your phone. Deleting the app deletes that information.
- When you are online, the app downloads the published catalog from safemomma.org. Our host (Vercel) processes normal web request data such as an IP address to deliver that file.
- For App Store privacy labeling, this means the app itself does not collect personal data from you.
Website (safemomma.org)
- Sign-in is handled by Clerk. If you create an account, Clerk stores the account information needed to sign you in.
- Saved items are stored in our database (Supabase) and tied to your signed-in account so you can open them later.
- First-party analytics: the site may send page views, search terms, searches with no results, and item clicks to our own
/api/analyticsendpoint. A random visitor ID is stored in your browser's localStorage. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies for this. If you arrive from one of our printed QR codes, we record which code (for example, the clinic where you got the flyer). This is not linked to your identity. - We intend to keep raw analytics events for about 90 days. An automated cleanup job is not built yet; until it is, events may remain until we delete them by hand.
- To delete a website account or saved items, email support@safemomma.org.
This marketing site
This page (the SafeMomma marketing / landing site) does not create accounts and does not store saved medications. Sign-up and sign-in happen on safemomma.org.
- We use Vercel Analytics for page views and a small set of first-party custom events (for example, clicks on “Try it free,” sample entry opens, and when the free sample lookup limit is reached). These help us understand what converts. They are not used for advertising.
- Sample lookups on this page may be counted in your browser’s
localStorage(keysafemomma_sample_lookups) so we can offer a limited number of free samples. Clearing site data removes that count. - We do not show a cookie consent banner for this marketing site today because we are not using third-party advertising cookies. If we add non-essential tracking later, or if we begin actively marketing to the EU/UK in a way that requires consent, we will update this policy and the site accordingly.
Optional visit questions & newsletter
On the website we may ask a short optional question such as whether you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying. Your tap (or a dismiss) is stored with an anonymous visitor id (and your account id if you are signed in) so we can see who SafeMomma reaches. This is voluntary. We do not use it for ads or sell it.
If you join The SafeMomma Letter, we also store your email, optional stage, optional note about what you want us to look into, and where you signed up (which page or outreach link). We use this only to send the newsletter and to understand what moms want covered. We do not sell your email. After you join, we send a short thank-you email that explains what the letter covers. Later issues will come the same way. You can unsubscribe anytime via the link in each email or by emailing support@safemomma.org. Newsletter mail goes through Resend (our email provider).
Consumer health data
Some U.S. state laws (including Washington's My Health My Data Act and similar rules in Nevada and Connecticut) treat certain health-related information carefully. On the website, that can include search terms about medications, herbs, supplements, or everyday exposures, which items you save, and optional answers about whether you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying. We use this only to run and improve SafeMomma (for example, to see which topics people look up and who visits). We do not sell this information and we do not share it for advertising. To request deletion, email support@safemomma.org. The iOS app does not send these searches or saves to us.
Who we share with
We use processors to run the service: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Clerk (website sign-in), and Resend (transactional and newsletter email). If you previously bought a paid plan, we may still hold plan status and membership identifiers from that period; we never store card numbers. Perplexity may be used only inside the admin drafting tools and does not receive ordinary user account or analytics data. We do not sell personal information and we do not use ads.
Children
SafeMomma is written for adults who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not directed to children under 13.
